“A true community is not just about being geographically close to someone or part of the same social web network. It’s about feeling connected and responsible for what happens. Humanity is our ultimate community, and everyone plays a crucial role” - Yehuda Berg

At Zoobibi, we welcome you to our community. We believe that great things are created when people come together and share experiences, skills and passions. From connecting with our suppliers who are family run businesses around the globe, through to the personal welcome you receive at our flagship showroom in Hawthorn, community support is the focus and central pillar of the Zoobibi ethos.

At the heart of all great communities are strong, educated women. Our aim is to
champion women’s causes across Australia and the globe and support their chance to pursue their dreams. One group we are working closely with is SisterWorks - an innovative not-for-profit social enterprise that provides refugee women with valuable skills so they can start their own businesses.

Why women?

Staggering statistics show that women are not given equal opportunities to learn skills, gain employment or access resources. In turn, this lack of support results in some of the most common social issues across Australia, like domestic violence, workplace discrimination, families living in poverty and youth homelessness.

  • When women earn their own income, they consistently invest up to 90% into their families, in comparison to men at an average of 30 - 40%

  • Educated mothers are twice as likely to send their daughters to school. For each extra year a mother is educated, the chance of her baby dying is reduced by 9.5%

  • When women have decision making power over where household income is spent, more money is spent on schooling and food.

  • When a woman is educated, she has fewer children. This means less financial pressure, which increases the household budget for child health, nutrition and education.
